Education:
Minimum: Medical Records Coding Licensure/Certification. Working knowledge of all payer and regulatory requirements, and ability to correlate to CDI program and Coding Unit. Knowledge of MS DRG’s, APR DRG’s, EAPRG DRG’s, OPT, and other applicable grouping systems. Knowledge of Case Mix Index and the financial impact of the same.
Preferred: Credentialed Coding Program
License/Certification:
Required: AHIMA license/certification.
Preferred: Certified in Clinical Documentation Improvement preferred.
Experience:
Minimum: Five years of experience of acute care inpatient coding. Must be knowledgeable of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding guidelines. Must have experience in coding for outpatients, surgical day care, ED and EM professional and technical level assignments. Must have experience in leadership, leadership skills, and have led coding team operations in daily operations, work flow analysis, managing unbilled issues, serve as a patient accounts liaison, provide IS support systems, and ensure compliance with OIG and OMIG regulations and compliance issues.

Minimum: Demonstrated leadership abilities. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to work independently. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (written and oral), analytical, and organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point. Knowledge of system applications currently in use and ability to assist with upgrades.
