Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work

This position is a tenure track (12) month faculty position in the social work department at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work is responsible for teaching primarily in the MSW program. This candidate will have expertise and teaching experience in one or preferably more than one of the following functional areas of Social Work: clinical practice, theory, research, ethics and policy. The successful candidate will enjoy teaching students at all undergraduate levels. In addition, we value a faculty member who has excitement for experiential activities in and out of the classroom. This position also supports academic program quality and student success through activities such as advising, course and curriculum development, and professional development. Specific Responsibilities

  • Deliver course instruction in traditional, accelerated, and online formats.
  • Serve as an advisor to students/cohorts
  • Coordinate the activities of the student cohort advisors
  • Serve as a liaison for student and instructor concerns
  • Assist with the recruitment and evaluation of prospective adjunct instructors
  • Participate in the ongoing professional development and self-evaluation
  • Support ongoing curriculum review/revision and updates
  • Maintain an active role in continuous quality improvement activities of the Division of Social Work, including assessment and accreditation work
  • Deliver a teaching load determined by the Provost/ VPAA, and Division Chair. This teaching load may include a variety of instructional delivery formats including campus, offsite, and/ or online.
  • Advise students and their cohorts
  • Work with the Division Chair and Program Director in the recruitment and assessment of practitioner instructors
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Social Work Division, administration, and staff to ensure program quality
  • Support the Student Services department in addressing student issues regarding instruction and college policy and procedure
  • Meet other program needs as directed by the Division Chair, and Program Director
  • Assist the Division Chair in the accreditation processes
  • Participate in periodic Social Work Division meetings and related activities
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and advising
  • Contribute to the College and community through participation in institution functions, community activities, and committee service
  • Demonstrate continuing professional and educational growth and maintain expertise in areas of teaching responsibility
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Minimum of a MSW with two years’ post MSW direct practice experience (Ph.D. strongly preferred) in an appropriate discipline specific field with appropriate related professional background
  2. Minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience, preferably encompassing a traditional, accelerated, and hybrid format with both traditional and non-traditional students
  3. Computer experience with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Docs.
  4. Experience with Course and Learning Management Software (i.e. Blackboard, Moodle) in support of online coursework
  5. Excellent planning, communication and organizational skills
  6. Academic expertise, research, and teaching experience in one of the following areas: LGBTQ population, Military Social Work, Social Welfare Policy, Diversity, and Oppression.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting of boxes, supplies, etc., generally less than 30lbs.
  • Sit, walk, talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Some evening and weekend hours required.
